Hey all. Does anyone have tips on how to scoop icecream if you are blind? I suck at it and I never get a scoop for. Any tips would be welcomed. Thanks.

T-Roy,
First up though I've vision difficulties
I am not blind, it is just these are some tips
I've found to be helpful, don't mind if I pass 'em along.

1) If ice cream is very very cold from freezer it is best if BEFORE
you begin to scoop the ice cream that you leave the container of it
out for maybe 5-10 minutes on the counter.
That gives just enough softness to make scooping it a breeze.

2) There are metal scoops though I have a hard like plastic one that I use.

3) Don't know if you use a cone or no, just that if you do it is good to like
use a tablespoon to first place some of the ice cream into the lower
part of the cone first so when you reach the lower part of the cone there is
ice cream there and not just air. smile

4) When I use more than one flavor, I in between going from scooping of
flavor to flavor rinse the scoop in warm water so as
not to place say one flavor of ice cream into the packaging of another.

5) Also again if placing more than one flavor of ice cream in a cone I
give consideration as to what flavor I would like to be tasting last
and that flavor I scoop up first, placing it in the lower part of the cone.
(o.k. I admit I have my weird little funny ways)

6) I find that if I open the 1/2 gal. package and start in the farthest top left corner
and take the scoop and like press it down in that corner and it like lifts the
ice cream up and then get like a rolling motion of the ice cream, pulling the
scoop towards me. This really only works IF the ice cream is alreadied
somewhat on the soft side. (Note #1 above)

7) Sometimes going to the local ice cream parlour is the easiest way. smile

Also, when you buy ice cream, and put it in the freezer, if you keep the container in a plastic bag, it keeps the ice cream from getting freezer burn, and hardening too much.
